The sheet music series of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Collection contains over one thousand pieces of sheet music published over the course of about one hundred years. Much of the music was composed or famously performed by Georgians, while some pieces were published by a Georgia company or have some other connection to the state. Significant names include Buddy Buie, Joe South, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, McHenry Boatwright, and gospel songwriter Lee Roy Abernathy, among others

The collection consists of an autograph manuscript copy of Dan Emmett's song "Dixie land," which was written on 22 February 1899 at Conshocton, Ohio. The recto comprises voice and chorus for the minstrel arrangement while the verso lists the lyrics for five stanzas. This copy has words only; there is no musical notation. (21 1/2 X 26 1/2 cm.) Accompanying the sheet is the quill pen used to make the copy. In addition, the collection contains clippings, off-prints, brochures, and photocopies of other materials relating to Emmett and his famous work. There is also an early recording of "Dixie" by Mabel Garrison and the Victor Male Quartet for Victoria Records.
